2025 MINIATURES MEMBER SHOW

 

PROSPECTUS & ENTRY (Note, be on the lookout for updates, as needed)

For: 2025 The Coppini Academy of Fine Arts MINIATURES Member Show

 

GENERAL INFO

 Member Representational Art only, will need to be reviewed "Online" by our Member Art Show Selection Committee. Interested members must submit online, see dates below. You may submit up to three (3) pieces for consideration. Entry fee is FREEAt least one (1) piece per Artist will be selected, if all submittal criteria are met. This will be referred to as the "Accepted Artworks." All submitted artwork must be “for sale”! The CAFA is encouraging a robust participation to feature our member artists and to help them generate an income for the end of their annual creative cycle, and to generate a modest income to the CAFA, as each sale must include a 25% surcharge payable to the Coppini.

We encourage you to submit “Miniatures” (image size 5 x 7 minimum, to 12 x 16 maximum) from your best art (consider clearing out your inventory to make room for new fresh ideas), or yet to be created, for this show. Price the pieces to sell. 

CAFA will promote the event to the public, as an opportunity to showcase our artists and to get some bargains. The Miniature Exhibit will be open from 18 November through December 30, 2025, 10 AM – 4 PM, Daily. Volunteers needed to host the Miniature Show and collect sales as appropriate. KEY DATES TO REMEMBER- Submission

November 10 - November 17 - Online Submission Dates (link will activate on November 10, 9 AM)

Click on the Fall Member Show link. Click on the entry form and enter your artwork information, including a photo of your submission (use high-quality jpeg or pdf). 

- Tuesday, November 18th (noon), Tom Ellis will begin notifying artists, by email, whose artworks were accepted.

- Thursday, November 20th: Exhibit Installed. Awards posted with hung artwork.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to all Coppini Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) members in good standing. New members may apply for CAFA membership prior to the time of their competition submissions. See CAFA's website https://www.thecoppini.org/?p=Membership for the required membership fees and forms. To honor the sculptor and our benefactor, Pompeo Coppini, only representational “Miniatures” art is accepted for this competition.

 

 

ARTWORK CATEGORIES & SIZE CRITERIA

I. Artwork will be accepted for the following five (5) categories:

• Drawing (includes charcoal, graphite pencil, silverpoint, pen & ink, and colored pencils)

• Paintings (oils, acrylics, encaustic, cold wax, tempera, alcohol ink, and gouache)

• Watercolor, pen & ink with watercolor

• Pastels, and oil pastels

• Mixed Media & Sculpture

 

II. All entries must be original artwork, not previously hung in any past CAFA Members' Juried Exhibitions. By submitting the artwork, the artist certifies that he/she holds the copyright for the pieces and the copyright remains with the artist.

 

III. Two-dimensional (2D) artworks will not exceed 20" in height and 16" in width (including the frame). Artwork frames exceeding the dimensions will not be exhibited. All paint and varnish must be dry prior to submission. Gallery-wrapped canvasses can be submitted without frames, but canvas depth must be 1 1/2" or greater, and sides must be suitably painted to present a professional appearance. All other artworks will be professionally framed (Plexiglas is preferred, but glass is acceptable) and ready to hang by wire or D-rings. No saw tooth or clip-on frames will be accepted. All 2D artwork submissions must adhere to the same rules as specified, regardless of media. See attached Wall Mounted Art Framing Instructions.

 

IV. Three-dimensional (3D) works may not exceed 12 x 16 x 16" and no heavier than 50 pounds with a suitable base for display. Sculptures must be suitable for indoor display.

 

V. Competition identification/ID Price card must be visible (mounted in lower right corner of the piece).

 

VI. The CAFA Jury Committee reserves the right to disqualify any work which fails to meet the specified criteria, or, if necessary, in the interest of safety and inability to handle the piece because of weight or size.

 

AWARDS

1. Each winner will be presented a monetary prize and a ribbon. The ribbon will be attached to the artwork while displayed in the Gallery. Upon sale of the artwork, ribbons will be returned to the artist.

2. Ribbons and monetary awards will be given to artists in the following categories:

         a. "Best of Show" -- $1000

         b. First Place for each category - $250 (x 5 categories)

         c.  Second Place for each category -- $100 (x 5 categories)

         d. Third Place for each category -- $75 (x 5 categories)

 

NOTE 1: "Best of Show" winner will not be eligible for any other awards.

NOTE 2: All other award winners will be limited to one award per category.

NOTE 3: The judge has the prerogative of not awarding one or more awards per category if the judge deems no artwork worthy of an award.

NOTE 4: A minimum of 5 submissions per category are required for a 3rd place award.

 

 SALES

All work exhibited must be available for sale. CAFA receives a 25% surcharge/commission of the sale price (payable by check after the show). Purchasers will be able to pick up their artwork at the conclusion of the exhibition. The artist has agreed to leave their artwork in the show for the duration of the exhibition (ending December 30, 2025).

 

LIABILITY

CAFA takes every precaution to protect all artwork submitted to this exhibition.

However, CAFA is not responsible for loss or damage to the work. By submitting the artwork to this competition, the artist has agreed to accept this condition. All possible care will be used in handling the piece(s). Artists should ensure their own work and are responsible for contacting their own insurance agent, if deemed necessary.

 

PERMISSION and AGREEMENT

By submitting an entry, the artist has agreed to all the show's criteria as specified in the above paragraphs. In addition, the artist grants permission for the Coppini Member's Fall Competition Coordinator or designated representatives to use images of the accepted artwork in the CAFA's newsletter, website, brochures, social media sites, and promotional materials, as well as articles about the competition submitted to newspapers, magazines, or TV programs. Every effort will be taken to ensure the images adequately depict the artwork, but the artist recognizes that electronic media and printers may unintentionally affect the image’s outcome.
